Ijams Nature Center

Now that it’s officially spring, I’ve been trying to be better about going out regularly and photographing.  It’s essential to every photographer to, well, practice!  My forte and love is portraiture, but it never hurts to go out into nature, be quiet, and observe the little details around me.  It helps me look at things in a different way, play around, discover new areas to take portraits in, and just work at my art.  Since I am trying to get out there and photograph, I decided to take advantage of the fact that it wasn’t raining yet on friday, and I went to Ijams Nature Center here in Knoxville Tn.  I had heard about it but hadn’t had a chance to go.  It was a little bit of a cloudy day, but the temperature was nice and it was fantastic to just go out and walk in nature.  If you haven’t been to Ijams, go!  It’s dog friendly, and they have beautiful trails and a variety of levels.  You may even run across something like this guy, when you’re taking a photograph of a stump.  Could happen.

  1. The tulips would make beautiful notecards. I love the one that looks like it’s exploding – just the right angle!. All lovely.
